Congratulations to Dr. Pierre-Antoine Nocquet who brilliantly defended his PhD! He will soon join the group of Pr Opatz at Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz (Germany) for a post-doctoral position.


Dr. Camille Decroocq has been awarded for her PhD work the 2013 KEPLER Prize (Saint-Thomas foundation). It is not yet the Nobel Prize but it is a good start for a talented young chemist! (To see more.)


A warm welcome to Raphaël Hensienne who starts a PhD thesis in our laboratory. Raphaël has been awarded a PhD fellowship from the French department of research. He has recently completed a Master 2 (MSc) degree at the University of Nancy (France) on glycochemistry.


Alessandra Meli from the laboratory of Pr. Irene Izzo (University of Salerno, Italia) was among us for two (too) short weeks. Multivalent iminosugars based on new scaffolds were synthesized on the occasion in collaboration with Mathieu Lepage.


September 2013

Our article in ChemBioChem concerning the description of submicromolar correctors of mutant CFTR, the protein involved in cystic fibrosis (mucoviscidosis) was selected for a cover (ChemBioChem 2013, 14, 2050).


One oral communication and seven posters were presented to the JCO 2013 in Palaiseau (France). Congratulations to all authors and to Mathieu Lepage for his nice talk on the synthesis of α-glycosyl azides by ring opening of 1,6-anhydrosugars.

A big congratulations to our post-docs! Dr Joanna Wencel-Delord has obtained a permanent position at the CNRS as "Chargée de Recherche" and Dr Antoine Joosten will become "Maître de conférences" at the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (National Institute of Applied Sciences - INSA) in Rouen!

Welcome to Tian Zeng who joins our group for a 6-weeks training in organic chemistry. Tian has joined ECPM in September 2012 within the framework of the Sino-French program in Chemical Sciences and Engineering. Before coming to France, Tian was studying chemistry at the East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) in Shangai.

A warm welcome to Ronan Feneux. Ronan is professor at the University of Strasbourg (PRAG). He has obtained a French "aggregation" in Chemistry in 2000 and a MSc in didactics of chemical and sciences in 2011. He is beginning a PhD thesis in the field of didactics on a subject dealing with reaction mechanisms in Organic Chemistry.

A warm welcome to Dr Joanna Wencel-Delord who joins our group as an assistant lecturer (ATER). Joanna has previously worked in the groups of Pr. F. Glorius and Dr. M. Mauduit. Joanna is an expert in C-H activation and asymmetric catalysis. She is co-author of a review that has been cited 130 times in 2012 (Towards mild-catalyzed C-H bond activation, Chem. Soc Rev. 2011, 9, 4740.)!

A warm welcome to Dr Antoine Joosten who joins our group as a post-doctoral fellow. Antoine has a broad expertise in organic chemistry from synthetic methodologies to rotaxane synthesis. He has previously worked in the groups of Pr. J.-E. Bäckvall, Pr. J.-P. Sauvage and Pr. J. Szymoniak. In 2010, Antoine was awarded the Organic Chemistry Division Prize (French Chemical Society) for his PhD research.

A warm welcome to Dr. Anne Bodlenner who joins our group. Anne is Maître de Conférences at the University of Strasbourg since 2008. She has a broad expertise in organic and bioorganic chemistry, going from natural products of biological interest to biocatalysis.

After 2 years, Dr. David Rodriguez-Lucena goes back to spain as a CSIC junior researcher. David has been the first researcher in the lab at the beginning of SYBIO in january 2009
